FAQ

Picwala is a free image library that you can add to almost any web page.

You can upload pictures, tag them, and show images by matching tags.

Try out the Pictures tab to see how it works.

What is the status of this project?

  • Picwala runs well in Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer
  • Browse and view work on the iPhone
  • Thumbnails turn on automatically
  • On-line help is usable, but needs to be brought up to date
  • Installing and configuring is a manual process

What remains to be done?

I am doing a complete re-write for version 2.0

  • Object oriented
  • All css-driven layout
  • Embeddable into any web page without php programming. (something like YouTube)

When will the final package be ready?

I am presently consulting full time, so I haven’t been able to work on hobby projects.  It’s hard to set a date, but should be soon. The hard problems are all solved - it’s mostly page design and html at this point.

Can I get Picwala now?

Absolutely.  I need beta testers.  Please write me at picwala@gmail.com

What do I need to run Picwala?

You need MySQL and PHP.  Basically, if your web server lets you run WordPress, you are probably good to go.  If you want to be a beta tester, I can help you set up your page.
